Pears have no cholesterol and are low in sodium, fat and calories. They also provide a source of dietary fibre, vitamin C and foliate.
Taylors Gold is a very versatile pear and can be enjoyed in many ways. Great in lunch boxes or sliced fresh into a salad. It can also be baked, frozen, or turned into jams and sauces. This pear can be eaten before their flesh is soft. Placing the fruit in a paper bag at room temperature will spend up the ripening process. Refrigerate ripe fruit for only a day or two.
Taylor's Gold pears make their debut during February to July.
Taylor's gold is a russet version of the Comice pear which was first discovered by Michael King-Turner in his Riwaka orchard near Nelson, New Zealand, in 1986. Taylor's Gold pear is grown best in cooler climates.
